John & Jackie Sargent

Our Story

 

On June 21, 1985, John & Jackie met at an under 21 dance club called "Sneakers" in Branford, CT.  John saw Jackie dancing and asked her out on a date. 
They were each other's  first love.  They dated for almost a year.
After they went their separate ways, they never saw each other again.

Until....

April 24, 2006:
Jackie went into Dunkin Donuts for a coffee before work.  
As she walked in the door, she saw someone familiar.  It was John.  He looked exactly as he did 20 years ago.

The next day, she went to Dunkin Donuts again for coffee and  John was there too.  He waited outside for her and they talked a little.  He gave her his card and told her to give him a call sometime.  
Jackie called him the next day.  They  met, yet again, at Dunkin Donuts that night.  (Ironically, she worked at the same Dunkin Donuts when they were together back then)
They had a long conversation, catching up on the last 21 years. 

They’ve been together ever since. 

On October 8, 2006 John proposed and they were married on September 20, 2009 with a bundle expected 6 months later.  They had their son, Mario Frances Sargent, on March 9, 2010.

Jackie's 22 year old daughter, Nikki Trickett, gifted them with their first grandchild,  Zoey Rosemarie Trickett, on October 29, 2011.

 

Backround:

In 1993, John was diagnosed with Testicular cancer.  He was only 28 years old.  He had an 18 pound tumor in his stomach.  He had it removed, as well as his kidney, spleen and one tesitcle.  He went through Chemo for a year.  He spent the next year in and out of the hospital with surgeries and infections.  Although, the one thing he always wanted was a family, he was told he may not be able to have children.  

Jackie had spent her time working two jobs as a single mother.  When John and Jackie met, Nikki was 16 years old. The dating scene was a new challenge. as Jackie's last relationship was 10 years earlier. 

John and Jackie got engaged 6 months after starting to date.  Three months before the wedding, they decided to end the birth control to give it a go by the time of the wedding.  Shockingly, all it took was 2 weeks and John's life long dream came true.  Jackie had also always wanted more children.  They married on 9/20/09 3 months pregnant and couldn't be happier!  

John was 44 and Jackie was 40.  Good things come to those who wait. 

On March, 9, 2010, we welcomed Mario Francis Sargent into our family!

On October 29, 2011, we welcomed our first granddaughter, Zoey Rosemarie Trickett!

On November 5, 2014, Lilliana Rose Sargent  into our family!  Her brother Mario, big sister Nikki and her Niece Zoey are very excited to meet her!
